Throughout the year, JFCS’s Chesed Committee supports our clients with both necessities and niceties as an extra layer of support. This year, the focus of the committee is on providing Thanksgiving meals to clients and our annual Adopt-A-Family holiday gift drive.

Thanksgiving Meals

JFCS’s Chesed Committee matches donors who wish to provide a hot Thanksgiving dinner to clients who may not have another opportunity to celebrate. The meals, purchased from local restaurant Hof’s Hut, are sponsored by generous donations from our community. Each meal is $30.00 and the committee will provide 50 meals in 2024.

Adopt-A-Family

The holidays can be hard for low-income families and JFCS is here to help! Clients who need a hand up during the holiday season are asked to provide a wish list of items that they might otherwise not be able to afford. The Chesed Committee then matches donors willing to provide these gifts with the wishlists of clients. The donors shop for and donate the items, making it a holiday to remember for all involved. Wish list donation amounts vary, so please email timnekuva@longlongjfcslboc.org to share your interest in adopting a family and indicate what size family you would like to support:

1-3 family members

3-5 family members

or a family of 5+

Each family will also receive a $50 gas gift card to help a little more. If you would like to provide these to the family, please make a gift HERE and indicate Chesed.
